Overview

The Ministry of Finance Open Data Platform provides a centralized and interactive digital channel for publishing financial data to the public, researchers, and other interested users. The platform supports the Ministry’s objective of enhancing financial transparency and enabling users to access and analyse information related to the State General Budget, Final Account, and Monthly Financial Accounts.

Business Need

The Ministry required an accessible and user-friendly platform that would allow users to explore large volumes of financial information without relying only on static reports and documents.
The objective was to make financial data easier to search, filter, visualize, analyse, and download while supporting both Arabic and English users and providing structured access to historical financial information.

Solution

An interactive Open Data Platform was implemented to enable users to dynamically explore financial information using multiple filtering and visualization options.
Users can analyse data by financial statement type, year range, revenue, public expenditure, ministries and government entities, functional classifications, financial items, and sectors. The platform dynamically presents the selected information through data visualizations and allows users to download the resulting datasets in multiple formats.
The solution also provides access to historical datasets and supporting information such as publishing frequency, data source, and dataset descriptions. Users can download information in formats including Excel, CSV, PDF, JSON, XML, and image formats, supporting further analysis and reuse of government financial data.
